Backbone Angels is an angel investment collective of women in technology, funding and empowering founders and businesses often overlooked by traditional capital. Members individually invest in chosen startups, while the collective provides strategic support and operational expertise, offering both financial backing and practical mentorship.
Founded in March 2021 by Marcie Murray, Brittany Forsyth, Anna Lambert, Arati Sharma, Alexandra Clark, Lynsey Thornton, Atlee Clark, Erin Zipe, and Konval Matin, the collective recognized the strength of their collaboration and the scarcity of all-female angel groups, establishing Backbone Angels to drive change.
Backbone Angels supports founders solving scalable problems, emphasizing equitable resource access within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It empowers individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, acknowledging uneven opportunity distribution. Its vision is to close this gap, enabling diverse founders to thrive and bring innovative businesses to market.
