London Co-Investment Fund

The London Co-Investment Fund (LCIF) operates as a public-private venture capital fund, deploying capital into early and seed-stage technology, science, and digital businesses across London. It employs a co-investment model, partnering with private investors to leverage public capital, stimulating broader investment in innovative startups within the city’s ecosystem.

LCIF was established in 2014, a collaboration between Capital Enterprise, Funding London, and the Mayor of London. Its founding insight aimed to enhance London’s seed-stage funding landscape by encouraging private investors and increasing capital flow into promising nascent enterprises through de-risking.

The fund targets London-based startups in digital, science, and technology. Although its initial £85 million capital was fully deployed into 150 companies by March 2019, LCIF’s vision persists in invigorating entrepreneurship and reinforcing London’s position as a global hub for innovation. Its portfolio continues to contribute to the city’s dynamic economic fabric.
