The founders of Outside Lands

Outside Lands produces a major annual three-day music, arts, and culinary festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. The festival originated from a 2004 discussion involving Allen Scott of Another Planet Entertainment and Rick Farman, a Superfly co-founder. Partnering with Starr Hill Presents, they envisioned a significant festival tied to San Francisco. Its 2008 debut in Golden Gate Park followed three years of extensive planning and securing city and community approvals.

Outside Lands attracts music, culinary, and art enthusiasts seeking an authentic Bay Area experience. Its vision, a "love letter to San Francisco," celebrates local talent and businesses. The festival aids the regional economy and funds music/arts education via Outside Lands Works, fostering cultural legacy.
