Swiss Diabetes Venture Fund (SDVF) is the first venture fund dedicated to investing in global diabetes technology startups. It provides capital for innovations across diabetes care. The fund partners with Serpentine Ventures and Diabetes Center Berne, utilizing their networks, deal flow, and medtech knowledge to support its portfolio companies.
Launched June 14, 2021, the fund stemmed from collaboration between Swiss Startup Group AG, DCB Research AG (a Diabetes Center Berne Foundation subsidiary), and Simon Michel. This initiative recognized a burgeoning diabetes technology hub in Berne. Founders Simon Michel (Ypsomed), Derek Brandt (DCB), and Mike Baur (Swiss Startup Group) contributed deep industry and venture expertise.
SDVF’s investments target improved diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for diabetes patients. The fund's vision addresses the increasing global challenge of diabetes.
