Gebert Rüf Stiftung is a science and innovation foundation based in Basel, Switzerland, that provides critical gap funding for entrepreneurial projects and emerging technologies. Operating with a core team of two to ten employees, an annual budget of up to CHF 15 million, and current assets of CHF 86 million, the organization supports junior scientists, universities of applied sciences, and commercial enterprises. To date, the foundation has invested CHF 258 million across 1,267 projects, successfully funding 194 start-ups and leveraging CHF 8.4 billion in additional market capital. The organization's initial board of trustees included notable academic and business figures such as Peter Forstmoser, Theodor Fässler, Verena Meyer, and Heinrich Rohrer. Gebert Rüf Stiftung was officially founded in 1997 by Heinrich Gebert, who provided the organization with a substantial initial endowment of CHF 220 million.
