CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, serves as the European Union's operational arm for managing critical funding programmes. It efficiently oversees the entire grant lifecycle for numerous initiatives focused on energy, environment, climate action, and transport. The agency's core capability lies in its robust project management framework, ensuring the effective implementation of diverse EU programmes such as CEF, Horizon Europe, and the Innovation Fund, all aimed at decarbonisation and sustainable development.

Officially established on February 15, 2021, and commencing operations on April 1, 2021, CINEA was created by the European Commission. This formation stemmed from an imperative to streamline and enhance the management of EU programmes critical to achieving the ambitious European Green Deal objectives. It evolved from its predecessor, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), to encompass a broader mandate aligned with the EU's intensified focus on environmental and climate policies.
