Established in 2015, 31 Ventures is the corporate venture capital and startup co-creation arm of Japanese real estate developer Mitsui Fudosan in Tokyo. The firm targets sectors like proptech, smart cities, and decarbonization, providing early to late stage startups with workspace and opportunities to scale technologies within its parent company's property portfolio. Managing multiple venture funds with a cumulative investment commitment exceeding 43.5 billion JPY, the organization has invested in approximately 40 startups and facilitated over 500 strategic business matches. Operating in partnership with fund manager Global Brain, the firm has backed notable portfolio companies including Safie, Telexistence, and Photoruction to generate returns through equity investments and synergies. Recent capital deployments include the 8.5 billion JPY Global Innovation Fund II targeting growth stage startups and a dedicated 5 billion JPY fund specifically focused on decarbonization and sustainability.
