Umesh Garg

Umesh Garg is the Managing Partner at Software Equity Group (SEG) based in Boston, Massachusetts. He transitioned into venture capital and investment banking after beginning his career in software engineering, holding a Master of Science in Computer Science from Boston University and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology. At SEG, Garg oversees lower middle-market investments and M&A transactions across the B2B SaaS, enterprise software, and fintech sectors, contributing to the firm's historical execution of over 500 deals since 1998. Under his direct leadership in 2024, the firm successfully closed more than 40 software M&A transactions, frequently engaging with major ecosystem players like DealCloud and ServiceNow. Garg currently focuses on bridging his technical engineering fundamentals with venture capital and growth equity strategies to advise and invest in early-stage and bootstrapped software companies.
