Thomas Hornbeck

Thomas Hornbeck is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Homeroom and a Venture Partner at Kind Capital, based in Silicon Valley. With over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, he began his entrepreneurial career by leaving a computer science doctoral program in its fifth year to launch his first startup. After relocating to California in 2013, Hornbeck founded the educational technology platform GotIt!, which developed an application that reached the number two position in the App Store's education category. He subsequently established the agricultural technology firm Distynct and became an active angel investor, backing startups such as Jobhop and the Techstars-backed legal platform LegalQ. Currently, his professional focus centers on scaling Homeroom following its participation in the Y Combinator Winter 2022 cohort, while continuing to support early-stage technology ventures across multiple sectors.
