Tariq Warsi

Tariq Warsi is a Venture Partner at Awaken Capital, while concurrently serving as the Alfred E. Mann Institute Investment Director at the University of Southern California and an Entrepreneur in Residence at UC Riverside. He holds a doctorate in cell and molecular biology from UC Riverside and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School before transitioning into the biotechnology industry. Prior to his current investment roles, Warsi held several senior operational and scientific positions, including serving as a Senior Director at AstraZeneca and the Vice President of Technical Operations at Novome Biotechnologies. His earlier career includes scientific research and development roles at Amgen, Aurora Algae, and Stanford University. Warsi currently focuses on venture capital investments and commercialization strategies within emerging life sciences technologies, specifically targeting synthetic biology, cell therapy, and genome editing therapeutics.
