Patrick Wakeham is the Founder and CEO of Apurata, a financial technology company providing small loans to the Latin American middle class. He began his professional career with a seven-year tenure in investment banking at Deutsche Bank after initially completing his training as a chemical engineer. Wakeham later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and transitioned into entrepreneurship, where he founded and successfully sold a small e-commerce business. As a former partner at Escala VC and an active angel investor, he has backed twenty early-stage startups across the region, achieving four investment exits while seven of his fourteen portfolio companies raised follow-on capital. His current professional focus centers on scaling Apurata and advising early-stage founders on funding round optimization strategies to help them equalize opportunities.
