Matt Oppenheimer is the co-founder and Board Chair of Remitly, a digital financial services company based in Seattle, Washington. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer from the enterprise's inception in 2011 until February 2026, when he transitioned leadership to incoming CEO Sebastian Gunningham. Under his executive tenure, the remittance platform expanded to serve millions of customers across more than 170 countries, generating $1.2 billion in annual revenue and processing $54 billion in total send volume during the 2024 fiscal year. Before launching Remitly, he worked as the Head of Mobile and Internet Banking Initiatives for Barclays Bank Kenya, and he holds an MBA from Harvard Business School alongside a bachelor's degree in psychology from Dartmouth College. His current focus remains on guiding corporate governance and advancing global financial services for underserved cross-border payment markets.
