James Richards is the San Francisco-based co-founder and CEO of Evergrow and a venture partner at Garuda Ventures. He previously served as the CEO and founder of Teleborder, an immigration technology startup that raised $3.5 million from Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator before being acquired by TriNet in 2016. Following the successful acquisition, he worked as the executive director of corporate development at TriNet and earlier practiced as a corporate lawyer at Davis Polk after earning his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. As an active angel investor and venture capitalist, he has backed more than thirty early-stage startups and serves as a board member for Kanin Energy. His current professional focus centers primarily on climate technology and clean energy finance, specifically utilizing Evergrow to facilitate carbon project funding and commercial solar tax credit transfers.
