Dave Messina is the Chief Operating Officer at Cofactor Genomics, where he currently directs regulatory affairs and reimbursement strategy for the clinical implementation of RNA-based diagnostics. Leveraging more than 20 years of specialized domain experience in computational biology and human genetics, he focuses on translating complex genomic research into viable healthcare applications. During his early career, Messina contributed directly to the foundational Human Genome Project as a researcher at Washington University in St. Louis. He subsequently advanced his expertise by conducting extensive disease gene mapping at the University of Chicago, which led to his co-development of the first comprehensive atlas detailing human transcription factor genes. Today, his primary operational focus remains on bridging the gap between molecular diagnostics and clinical utility by securing regulatory approvals and establishing commercial reimbursement pathways for advanced genomic testing technologies.
