SportInnovator

Sportinnovator is the Netherlands' foremost sports innovation network, actively driving and disseminating advancements across the sporting landscape. It functions by fostering collaboration and co-creation among diverse stakeholders, including sports institutions, businesses, knowledge institutions, and municipalities. The network employs an "innovation formula" that connects parties in consortia, serving as a co-financier, connector, coach, and promoter to accelerate the development and application of novel solutions.

Established around 2015 as an initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, with support from ZonMw, Sportinnovator originated from the insight that widespread innovation could integrate sports and exercise into daily life. This foundational vision aimed to cultivate a more social, sustainable, and healthy society, while also enhancing performance in elite sports and improving the sustainability of athletic facilities nationwide.

The network’s beneficiaries span from researchers and innovators to athletes, trainers, and the general public, facilitating solutions for both elite and grassroots sport. Sportinnovator's overarching mission is to maximize the societal and economic impact of sports innovation, ensuring that promising concepts are successfully commercialized and widely adopted. Its long-term vision extends to establishing the Netherlands as an international leader in sports innovation, scaling successful projects globally.
