NO/LA Angel Network

The NO/LA Angel Network operates as a not-for-profit collective of accredited investors, primarily situated throughout Louisiana. It functions to evaluate, fund, and nurture early-stage companies, providing critical capital and strategic guidance to emerging ventures. The network’s approach involves a collaborative process among its members to identify and back high-potential startups within the regional ecosystem.

The organization was co-founded in April 2014 by Michael J. Eckert and Jack Carrere. Eckert, who previously served as CEO of The Weather Channel, along with Carrere, identified a significant need for structured early-stage capital and mentorship for nascent businesses in the Greater New Orleans area. Their shared insight aimed to cultivate a more dynamic and supportive environment for local entrepreneurship.

The network primarily serves early-stage startups located within the Greater New Orleans area and extends its reach across southeast Louisiana. Its long-term vision is to invigorate regional economic development by empowering local entrepreneurs. This is achieved by offering the necessary financial backing and expert guidance for new companies to flourish, thereby solidifying and expanding the area’s startup community.
