The multiplayer browser that knows you
Key people at Muddy.
Muddy was founded in 2018 by Ron Bhattacharyay (Founder) and Sachin Kesiraju (Founder) and Jimmy Liu (Founder).
Muddy is a chat-like web browser (built on Chromium). Teams use Muddy to work with their teammates and software all in one window.
Muddy consists of Spaces: project, event, or competency based feeds in which users can send updates that consist of basic multimedia messages, specific files from applications (Google Doc, Airtable Base, Figma File, +anything web based), and annotations on both.
Recipients can then use those apps right in line of the messages to take the requested action or give the solicited feedback (review my design, update the CRM, approve the PR, confirm PTO in Gusto, etc).
Muddy is a multiplayer web browser designed to enhance team collaboration by integrating communication, project management, and app usage into a single, shared workspace. Built on Chromium, it allows teams to create "Spaces"—project or competency-based feeds where users can share updates, multimedia messages, and files from various web apps like Google Docs, Airtable, and Figma. Recipients can interact with these apps directly within the chat-like interface, streamlining workflows and feedback loops. Muddy targets teams and organizations seeking to improve productivity by tightly coupling collaboration with the tools they use daily. Although currently inactive, Muddy demonstrated growth momentum through its innovative approach to combining browser functionality with AI-driven organization and real-time team interaction[1][3][4].
Muddy was founded in 2018 by Ron Bhattacharyay, Sachin Kesiraju, and Jimmy Liu, with roots in San Francisco and participation in Y Combinator's Summer 2019 batch. The founders brought diverse backgrounds in software and design, aiming to solve the inefficiencies in team collaboration caused by fragmented workflows across multiple apps and browser tabs. The idea emerged from the need to unify communication and app usage into a single, intelligent browser environment that automatically organizes project files and conversations. Early traction included positive feedback on its AI-powered timeline that keeps project tabs relevant and organized, and its ability to integrate multiple SaaS tools seamlessly within shared spaces[1][3].
Muddy rides the growing trend of collaborative productivity tools that integrate communication, project management, and app usage. As remote and hybrid work models become standard, the need for seamless, real-time collaboration tools that reduce context switching is critical. Muddy's timing aligns with increasing enterprise demand for secure, integrated SaaS environments that support team workflows without sacrificing privacy or control. By embedding AI to automate organization and relevance ranking, Muddy addresses the unsustainable manual effort in managing digital workspaces. Its approach influences the broader ecosystem by pushing the concept of browsers evolving from solo tools to collaborative platforms, potentially reshaping how teams interact with web apps and data[3][4].
Although currently inactive, Muddy’s concept foreshadows a future where browsers are not just gateways to the web but collaborative hubs powered by AI. The next steps for Muddy or similar platforms would likely involve deeper enterprise adoption, enhanced AI capabilities for contextual assistance, and broader integration with popular SaaS ecosystems. Trends shaping this journey include the rise of AI in productivity, increasing hybrid workforces, and growing enterprise security requirements. As these forces converge, Muddy’s vision of a multiplayer browser that "knows you" and your team could become a foundational tool in digital collaboration, reducing friction and boosting productivity across industries[3].
