Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan

Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a multi-employer defined benefit pension plan based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, providing retirement income to healthcare workers. It manages C$112.6 billion in net assets as of December 2023, investing across fixed income, public equities, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure to ensure lifetime monthly payments for its members. As a non-profit trust, HOOPP serves 460,000 members and 670 participating employers within the Ontario healthcare sector, positioning it among Canada's largest pension funds. Originally established by the Ontario Hospital Association, it became an independent multi-employer private trust in 1993, later adopting its current name in 2010. The plan also has an additional office in London, United Kingdom, and plans to allow self-employed Ontario doctors to participate starting in 2025. HOOPP was founded in 1960.
