H-Reff

H-Reff is an impact investment fund providing mezzanine financing, equity, quasi-equity, and debt to small-scale renewable energy projects across Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. Capitalized by SREP with $20 million in equity, the fund supports projects utilizing solar, wind, biomass, biogas, and energy-efficient technologies. It has financed a dozen small-scale projects, including the Rio Betulia Hydroelectric Power Plant, and supports 22 renewable energy SMEs, aiming to create 2,500 jobs and reduce 5.7 million tons of CO2-equivalent. H-Reff operates as part of Deetken Impact Sustainable Energy (DISE), which has a combined $60 million capitalization and 18 projects, with partners such as IDB Lab and the World Bank. The fund, which generates 427 MWh, was designed in 2015 by Fernando Alvarado.
