Genscape

Genscape is a Louisville, Kentucky-based provider of real-time data, analytics, and market intelligence for global energy and commodity markets. The company operates an extensive private network of in-field monitors, utilizing satellite reconnaissance and artificial intelligence to deliver alternative data across power, oil, natural gas, agriculture, biofuels, and maritime freight. Serving energy market traders and financial institutions, the business generated approximately $48 million in revenue during the 2013 fiscal year and holds 65 patents protecting its core intellectual property. Formerly owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), the enterprise was acquired by Verisk in August 2019 for $364 million in cash. Following this transaction, the organization and its approximately 30 employees were integrated into Wood Mackenzie under the leadership of President Neal Anderson. Genscape was originally established as an independent corporate entity in 1999.
