Develops next-generation hybrid floating offshore wind platforms for deep-water energy production, reducing costs.
Founded in 2020 by Jon Salazar and based in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, Gazelle Wind Power develops hybrid floating offshore wind platforms for scalable deep-water renewable energy production. The company's patented technology combines tension-leg and semi-submersible designs to reduce platform steel weight by 70 percent and limit tilt to under one degree without requiring active ballast systems. To advance its commercialization efforts for offshore utility markets, the firm is currently developing the Nau Azul demonstrator project, which has secured nearly 19 million euros in total financing. This capitalization includes a funding round of over 11 million euros led by Indico Capital Partners in 2024, alongside subsequent investments from Banco Português de Fomento and backing from Covalis Capital. The enterprise further expanded its technical capabilities through the 2024 acquisition of the Spanish naval engineering firm Carceller.
