Forest Road Company is a Century City, Los Angeles-based merchant bank that operates investment and advisory platforms while acting as a principal investor across various alternative asset classes. The firm provides creative capital solutions, such as lending against tax credits for film and television projects, and has expanded its focus to include intellectual property, renewable energy, life sciences, and healthcare. During its initial startup years, the organization raised more than $300 million to fund its alternative underwriting and principal investment strategies. Forest Road recently acquired London-based ACF Investment Bank and facilitated the nearly $400 million sale of intellectual property rights for "Lord of the Rings" to Embracer Group. The firm's leadership team includes former Oaktree Capital executive Caleb Kramer and former Elliott Management executive Keith Horn. Forest Road Company was founded in 2018 by Zach Tarica.
