Climate-KIC functions as Europe’s leading climate innovation agency, actively connecting climate commitments with current realities. It develops and deploys diverse innovation programs, educational initiatives, and systemic solutions aimed at fostering a regenerative economy. Its approach centers on nurturing entrepreneurship, driving applied research, and delivering practical learning experiences for comprehensive climate action.

Established in 2010, Climate-KIC originated as one of the initial Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) under the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union. The foundational insight was to leverage innovation and collaborative networks to address complex climate challenges, creating a framework for sustainable economic development. This initiative stimulates large-scale climate solutions.

Climate-KIC engages an ecosystem of innovators, businesses, academia, and public authorities working towards climate resilience. Its mission is to accelerate Europe’s transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient economy by fostering innovative solutions for both mitigation and adaptation.
