CAV Angels

CAV Angels operates as an angel investment network dedicated to catalyzing engagement within the University of Virginia's entrepreneurial ecosystem. The organization mobilizes capital for promising early-stage companies, primarily focusing on Seed and Series A rounds within the technology and healthcare sectors. It provides accredited investors with curated deal flow, educational programming, and opportunities for hands-on student engagement, supporting startups with a strong UVA affiliation.

Founded in 2015, CAV Angels emerged from the insight that a dedicated platform was needed to connect the expansive network of UVA alumni with nascent entrepreneurial ventures. Darden alumnus Jim Cheng (MBA '87) is recognized as one of its founders, leveraging his pedigree to help establish a structured pathway for alumni to invest in and support the university's startup community. This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between alumni capital and early-stage innovation.

The organization serves two primary groups: accredited UVA alumni investors seeking to deploy capital into high-potential startups and early-stage companies with a UVA connection requiring funding. CAV Angels' long-term vision is to continuously strengthen the UVA entrepreneurial ecosystem by educating investors, fostering connections, and consistently channeling investment into ventures poised for significant impact and growth, thus extending the university's influence in the startup world.
