Based in Cairo, Egypt, Ziad Mokhtar is the Founding and Managing Partner at Algebra Ventures and the Co-Founder and CEO of oliv.finance. Active as an investor since 2010, he previously worked in investment banking and private equity, serving as a Principal at the EFG Hermes venture capital fund Ideavelopers before co-founding Algebra Ventures in 2015. He successfully managed the firm's inaugural $50 million venture fund launched in 2016, which was backed by institutional investors including Cisco Investments, EBRD, and IFC. Through Algebra Ventures, he has backed over 13 technology startups, building a portfolio of over 35 companies that features prominent regional names like MNT-Halan, Khazna, trella, and Yodawy. In 2024, he expanded his operational footprint by launching oliv.finance as Egypt's first digital factoring platform, while continuing to fund early-stage fintech, agriculture, and digital health enterprises.
