Zhen Rong Yap

Zhen Rong Yap is an AI Research Engineer at ZILO in London, United Kingdom, where he develops next-generation artificial intelligence systems for the firm's special projects division. He previously studied materials science at Oxford University as a Jardine Scholar and completed coursework in aerospace engineering and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his academic career, Yap gained technical experience through research and engineering internships at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Faraday Institution. Prior to joining ZILO as its first engineering hire in the summer of 2023, he spent over a year as a Campus Associate at REMUS Capital. In this venture capital role, he built automated sourcing scripts to identify early-stage B2B deeptech investments. Yap currently focuses on the commercialization of deeptech, bridging his background in advanced materials and aerospace with applied artificial intelligence.
