Zavain Dar

Zavain Dar is an Investor at Dimension Capital based in New York City, New York. Prior to joining Dimension, which recently raised a $500 million fund, he served as a General Partner at Lux Capital and worked as an investor at Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors. He previously founded Discovery Engine, a software startup that was acquired by Twitter, and conducted machine learning research at the Stanford AI Lab. As a venture capitalist, Dar has led significant investments in prominent technology and biotechnology companies, including Hugging Face, Runway, Recursion, and Thrive Earlier Detection, which Exact Sciences acquired for $2.15 billion in 2020. He holds a bachelor's degree in symbolic systems and a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University, where he also lectures, maintaining a core investment focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence, software, and cutting-edge biosciences.
