Yongjin Park is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of 1849 Bio, an emerging biotechnology company focused on advancing engineered biological solutions for multiple industries. He holds a PhD in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). During his doctoral research, Park developed the core technology for the world's first engineered probiotic to enter formal human clinical trials. Following his academic work, he transitioned into the commercial deep biotech sector, where he engineered microbial agricultural products that have been deployed across more than six million acres of farmland in the United States. His current focus centers on leveraging synthetic biology and microbial engineering to develop novel therapeutic probiotics and scalable agricultural applications for 1849 Bio.
