Wouter Meuleman

Wouter Meuleman is a Partner and Co-founder at Illumina Ventures, a life sciences venture capital firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before launching the fund, he served as Director of Corporate Development at Illumina, leading strategic investments including the backing of Desktop Genetics. His earlier career includes senior research and product development positions at Illumina and serving as the first employee at the Oxford University spin-out Oxamer, which later merged with Oxford Gene Technology. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University and an MBA from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. Bringing over 20 years of industry expertise to his role, he manages investments in Arbor Biotechnologies, Precede Biosciences, and Ribometrix. Meuleman currently focuses on funding early-stage companies developing advanced life sciences tools, clinical diagnostics, and genomics-enabled therapeutics.
