Winston Hickox

Winston Hickox is a Venture Partner at Paladin Capital Group, a Partner at California Strategies, and the Lead Independent Director at Cadiz, Inc. Previously, he served as the Senior Portfolio Manager for Environmental Initiatives at CalPERS from 2004 to 2006, overseeing environmentally oriented impact investments. Before this, Hickox managed a nearly $2 billion real estate portfolio for CalPERS between 1987 and 1996. In the public sector, he served as Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency from 1999 to 2003, directing state policies on climate change, toxics, and water quality. He also chaired the FTSE Environmental Markets Committee and served on the board of the $5 billion Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System. Hickox currently focuses on the intersection of public policy, environmental technology, and institutional impact investing across both the private and public sectors.
