William Ford

William E. Ford is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Atlantic, a global private investment firm, operating out of Miami and New York. Since assuming the CEO role in 2007 and adding the Chairman title in 2021, he has expanded the organization to manage approximately $126 billion in assets across 17 countries. Ford currently serves on the corporate boards of BlackRock and ByteDance, while his historical directorships include prominent financial and technology entities such as NYSE Euronext, E*Trade, and Priceline. He originally joined General Atlantic in 1991 after earning a bachelor's degree in economics from Amherst College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Today, his primary executive focus centers on directing the firm's overarching capital allocation strategies across global growth equity, corporate credit, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure markets.
