William Cohn

William Cohn is a Houston, Texas-based cardiovascular surgeon who currently serves as a Venture Partner at Santé Ventures and the Executive Director for the Center of Device Innovation at the Texas Medical Center. He concurrently holds Chief Medical Officer positions at BiVACOR Inc and Obvius Robotics, alongside a tenured professorship in surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine. Previously, Cohn worked as a Vice President at Johnson & Johnson MedTech and directed the Center for Technology and Innovation at the Texas Heart Institute. Throughout his clinical and entrepreneurial career, he has been granted more than 124 United States patents that have served as the foundational technology for 10 venture-backed medical startups. His primary focus remains on advancing cardiovascular innovation and healthcare technology investments, highlighted by his pioneering clinical work on continuous-flow artificial heart replacement devices.
