William Bao Bean

William Bao Bean is the Managing Partner of Orbit Startups Asia, currently based in Singapore. In this capacity, he oversees early-stage technology investments and accelerator programs across Southeast Asia, recently raising a $36 million pre-seed fund in March 2024 to manage over $50 million in total assets. Through these strategic initiatives, he has accelerated more than 100 portfolio companies and contributed to notable regional exits, including the prominent consumer marketplace unicorn Carousell. Prior to his current position, he served as a Vice President at GGV Capital focusing on Chinese technology investments, held senior leadership roles at The Carlyle Group, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College. His professional background centers on bridging Western and Asian markets by scaling early-stage software, financial technology, and consumer internet ventures across Greater China and Southeast Asia.
