Wei Zhao

Wei Zhao is a Principal at Creacion Ventures based in Mexico City, Mexico, where he focuses on sourcing and supporting early-stage technology startups. Before joining the firm in 2022, he held investment positions at 500 Global and a private family office, building upon his formal education from Tsinghua University. In his current capacity, Zhao manages a portfolio of over 20 companies across Latin America and Southeast Asia, with notable venture investments including regional unicorns Kavak and Clip. He recently led a funding round for a Latin American artificial intelligence startup in the first quarter of 2024 and presented on regional technology trends at Web Summit Rio in April 2025. Zhao currently concentrates his professional efforts on cross-border seed and Series A investments within the financial technology, SaaS, and consumer technology sectors across emerging markets.
