Vasily Larionov

Vasily Larionov is a Founding Partner at Phystech Ventures based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Alongside partners Ivan Protopopov and Petr Lukyanov, he directs seed and Series A investments for the venture capital firm, which was established in 2013 and reported $5 million in annual revenue in 2025. Under his strategic leadership, the organization has successfully backed 31 companies across nine distinct countries, frequently acting as the first institutional investor for emerging technology enterprises. Before establishing his current firm, Larionov gained early industry experience working at Upstream and developed deeptech domain expertise through his academic and professional ties to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His current investment focus centers on early-stage scientific breakthroughs, specifically targeting commercial spin-offs from eight universities within next-generation computing, life sciences, energy, mobility, and space technologies.
