Vasco Pedro

Vasco Pedro is the CEO and Co-founder of Unbabel, an enterprise artificial intelligence translation platform based in Lisbon, Portugal. Prior to establishing this company, he studied computer science at Instituto Superior Técnico and founded the mobile application Clixtr, which was subsequently acquired by Shazam. As a Y Combinator alumnus, Pedro has successfully scaled Unbabel to serve major Fortune 500 clients, reaching a significant operational milestone of translating over one billion words annually by early 2025. Under his executive leadership, the localization software startup has secured more than $100 million in total venture funding, highlighted by a $32 million Series C extension led by Naspers in 2023 and the launch of the OPAL model in 2024. His current professional focus remains on advancing natural language processing and machine learning technologies to systematically eliminate global enterprise language barriers.
