Umur Cubukcu

Umur Cubukcu is the Co-founder of Ubicloud, an alternative cloud computing infrastructure provider based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previously, he served as the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citus Data from 2011 until its acquisition by Microsoft in 2019. Following the transaction, Cubukcu joined Microsoft Azure, where he led the PostgreSQL product team and oversaw the integration of the Citus open-source distributed database extension into enterprise data systems. He also served as a Visiting Partner at Y Combinator during the winter and summer batches of 2023, advising early-stage technology startups before raising seed funding for Ubicloud. Under his leadership, the Citus extension achieved widespread adoption, securing production deployments at major organizations including Instagram and CERN. His career focuses on advancing open-source software, scaling distributed database architectures, and developing alternative cloud infrastructure solutions.
