Prior to establishing Proper alongside his co-founder Kyle, Gibson spent nearly seven years operating as an early engineer and technical team leader at Marqeta. During his tenure at the global card issuing institution, he directed specialized engineering teams responsible for architecting core payments infrastructure and scalable money movement solutions. His extensive technical work with complex payments application programming interfaces exposed the significant operational challenges surrounding financial data accuracy within the broader industry. This firsthand experience with the limitations of existing ledger systems directly prompted the creation of his current venture to address critical infrastructure gaps. Gibson currently focuses on leveraging his domain expertise in payments to build automated systems that ensure financial data integrity across high-volume transaction environments.
