Tope Alabi

Tope Alabi is the Co-founder of Afriex, a growing cross-border remittance platform, and is primarily based in Lagos, Nigeria. Backed by Y Combinator, the fintech startup has raised over $3.5 million in seed funding and processes millions of dollars in monthly transfer volume for the African diaspora. Under his leadership, the company secured a Series A funding extension in October 2024 and expanded its core operations into the Ghanaian and Kenyan markets in March 2025. Alabi also facilitated the recent launch of instant US-to-Nigeria transfers through strategic partnerships with major American banks, operating in a competitive ecosystem alongside regional players like Flutterwave, Interswitch, and Paystack. His current focus remains on leveraging his prior software engineering and product management background to build accessible financial infrastructure and simplify international payments across underserved African markets.
