Tony Smurfit is the Chief Executive Officer of Smurfit Westrock, a global corrugated paper and packaging company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. He previously served as the CEO of Smurfit Kappa Group from 2015 until its landmark $20 billion merger with the American packaging firm WestRock in July 2024. Smurfit originally began his career at the organization in 1986, advancing through various international leadership roles including Chief Operations Officer and President before assuming the top executive position. Outside of his primary corporate duties, he has served as a board member for the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (Ibec) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Scranton. His current executive focus centers on integrating the newly merged multinational enterprise and expanding its sustainable packaging operations and supply chains across global consumer markets.
