Tony Chao

Tony Chao is a Partner at Tyche Partners based in Menlo Park, California, where he focuses on early and early-growth stage investments in disruptive technologies. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, he served as the General Manager of Applied Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Applied Materials. In this capacity, Chao managed a portfolio exceeding $250 million across more than 60 companies and was recognized multiple times on the Global Corporate Venturing Powerlist. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, alongside a Master of Engineering and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Having also served as Chair of the NVCA Corporate Venture Group, his current focus centers on advancing HardTech innovation through strategic venture capital allocation across the broader technology sector.
