Tom McCarthy is a Venture Partner at Brandon Capital Partners and the Co-Founder and Chair of M:M Bio, based in the United Kingdom. He previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Spinifex Pharmaceuticals from 2006 to 2015, where he led the company through its $700 million acquisition by Novartis. Currently, he acts as the Executive Chair for several biotechnology startups, including Grey Wolf Therapeutics and Pathios Therapeutics, the latter of which recently secured a $25 million Series B funding round backed by Bristol Myers Squibb. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President of Drug Development at Starpharma Holdings Limited and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford after earning his PhD from Monash University. His primary focus remains on advancing early-stage drug discovery and developing first-in-class therapies for cancer and chronic pain.
