Tom Ferguson

Tom Ferguson is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Burnt Island Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Boston, Massachusetts. Before establishing his current firm, he co-founded and led the enterprise software practice at Battery Ventures and held engineering roles at Open Market after earning his electrical engineering degree from MIT. Under his leadership, Burnt Island Ventures manages over $200 million in assets across more than 20 portfolio companies, recently closing a $100 million Fund III in the first quarter of 2026. His prior venture investment track record includes the early backing of Snowflake, alongside notable portfolio exits to major technology corporations like Salesforce and IBM. Bridging technical innovation with scalable business models, Ferguson currently focuses his investments on seed and Series A startups developing B2B enterprise software, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and cybersecurity solutions.
