Toby Zhang

Toby Zhang is a Managing Partner at New Enterprise Associates based in San Francisco, California. Prior to his current position, he held investment and consulting roles at Sequoia Capital and McKinsey & Company. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, alongside a Master of Science in industrial engineering and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. At NEA, Zhang has managed more than $500 million in capital deployments across over 20 portfolio companies, including notable investments in Rippling and Databricks. In March 2026, he led a $150 million Series B funding round for the artificial intelligence infrastructure startup VectorSpace. His current investment focus centers on early-stage venture capital opportunities within the enterprise software, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and financial technology sectors.
