Tim Trefren

Tim Trefren is an entrepreneur, software engineer, and the co-founder and CEO of Recheck, a verification platform for transparency and accountability in residential solar sales, based in Lyme, New Hampshire. Before launching his current climate technology venture in September 2023, he co-founded the product analytics platform Mixpanel in 2009 after participating in the Y Combinator accelerator program. During his decade-long tenure at Mixpanel from 2009 to 2019, the software company raised $277 million in venture capital funding and successfully scaled to exceed $100 million in annual revenue. Trefren previously studied computer science at Arizona State University, and he later completed a Climate Tech Fellowship at On Deck in 2021. Today, his primary focus remains on building software to combat climate change while operating as an occasional early-stage investor supporting food security, economic development, and the global energy transition.
