Tim Shannon

Tim Shannon is a General Partner at Canaan Partners based in Westport, Connecticut. Before joining the venture capital firm in 2009, he served as Chief Executive Officer of CuraGen and Senior Vice President of Global Clinical Development at Bayer. He focuses on early-stage biotechnology investments, backing companies like CytomX Therapeutics, which completed a $92 million initial public offering, and Civitas Therapeutics, acquired for $525 million. Additionally, he served as the founding CEO of Arvinas and facilitated the 2015 acquisition of Novira Therapeutics by Johnson & Johnson. Earlier in his career, he practiced as a pulmonary physician and worked as an assistant professor at the Yale University School of Medicine. His current focus remains on leveraging his clinical and operational expertise to guide seed and Series A healthcare startups through clinical development and regulatory approval.
