Thushan Amarasiriwardena is a software product manager at the United States Digital Service based in Alameda, California, where he drives artificial intelligence initiatives for federal agencies like the IRS. After earning a computer science degree from North Carolina State University, he began his career as a senior multimedia producer at The Boston Globe before co-founding the Emmy-winning education application company Launchpad Toys. Following Google's acquisition of Launchpad Toys, Amarasiriwardena directed the tech giant's early large language model development efforts for Google Assistant and the foundational technologies behind Gemini.
