Tarun Davda is a Managing Director at Matrix Partners India, an investment firm also known as Z47, where he backs early-stage founders across the Indian startup ecosystem. As a prominent institutional investor, he has successfully built a venture portfolio that includes recognizable technology companies such as Unacademy, CRED, Razorpay, and Whatfix. His current investment strategy focuses on supporting entrepreneurs developing scalable solutions in consumer technology, enterprise artificial intelligence, SaaS, and B2B manufacturing. Before transitioning to venture capital, he co-founded and served as the India CEO of the dating platform StepOut, scaling it to over five million users, and previously established the domain registrar BigRock. Davda initially began his professional career as an IT consultant at Infosys, and he holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad alongside an engineering degree from VJTI Bombay.
