Steven Waterhouse

Dr. Steven Waterhouse is the Founder and General Partner of Nazaré Ventures, operating across San Francisco and Europe. He previously served as a Founding Partner at Pantera Capital beginning in 2013, where he oversaw the firm's transition into early cryptocurrency investments, and later co-founded the decentralized virtual private network Orchid Labs in 2017. Earlier in his career, Waterhouse developed distributed enterprise storage solutions at Sun Microsystems and co-founded the patent services firm RPX, which completed a Nasdaq initial public offering in 2011. He holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of Cambridge with a focus on machine learning and served on the board of Bitstamp until 2016. His current investment focus centers on early-stage artificial intelligence infrastructure, specifically targeting technologies that reduce the costs and centralization associated with training and deploying machine learning models.
