Steven Meersman

Steven Meersman is a Venture Partner at Contrarian Ventures and the Founder Director of Zenobē, currently based in Belgium. He brings nearly two decades of professional experience in battery and traded energy commodity markets, having previously served as the Global Head of Deals Desk at Trafigura. In that specific corporate role, he directed teams managing refineries and over 30 operational terminals across Africa and Central America. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant at Oliver Wyman focusing on energy trading strategies and gained foundational sector experience at AES Energy Storage, which is now known as Fluence. Additionally, he established Venturerock in 2018 to support eight portfolio companies with data-driven early-stage capital. Meersman currently focuses on advancing seed and Series A climate tech investments, sustainable electric vehicle infrastructure, and commercial battery storage solutions.
